This is a six part series in questionnaire format that can lead you down the path and into the ultimate direction you want to take your entertainment career (your big vision). Chances are you have had a slow go and either lack this knowledge and process to move ahead or perhaps you have even found yourself following the crowd and what everyone else in the industry is doing. For that last reason alone you are getting it all wrong. Listen up. Regardless of your circumstances or where you find yourself, let me be the first to tell you that there is no cookie-cutter approach when it comes to taking your career to the next level. Sure there are foundations and principles that work, but your path should certainly be different, and different enough to stand out from others in the same field. That’s what we’re going to accomplish throughout this 6 part series.
The whole goal behind this Brand Planner series is to get you to step back from your current situation. Instead of focusing on your talent I want you to step back for a moment and put some time and thought into where you want to be. Do you want more work? Better work? Higher paying work? To follow your dreams, you passion? What is it? At the end of the day that is ultimately what you will invest your time and energy into if you’re serious about reaching success.
Whether you recognize it or not YOU ARE A BRAND (personally, even before your business). There are so many talented people (many doing the same thing you do), but that only goes so far in business when it comes to living out your brand – Visually, Verbally, and Virtually. If I am honest, I think many people suck at getting their brand right because of inconsistent looks, confusing messages, or simply by not being their true selves (and the list of mistakes goes on and on). I’m not faulting them though. Hear me out. I think it’s because many talented people don’t know what they just don’t know. Come on, we can’t all be experts in everything and across every facet of our business. But we can gain some control and understanding. I’m sure that’s why you’re still here and still reading.
By harnessing the power of knowing who you truly are and what you offer the world (i.e. you as the brand) I can assure you that you can and will master your market over your competition. This leads to not only happiness in the work that you love but, branding done the right way, targets your most ideal audience, while repelling those that you don’t want to work with anyway.
