NO STOOGES! NO ASSISTANTS! NO FUMBLING! MADE WITH THE SOLO PERFORMER IN MIND!

Effect: Imagine going into your audience with a little wooden (LOCKED) box and handing it to a random spectator to hold for security just until the right magical moment (you can also have it hanging, on your table or anywhere in full view the entire time). As you continue throughout the audience you ask to borrow a bill of any denomination you desire from another random spectator. Once you have them on stage with you you ask to see their bill and you begin to rip off a corner. You then give this to them as a receipt in case something goes wrong. Next, simply vanish their bill using your favorite method (any will do). After some byplay and not being able to make it reappear you are left perplexed…. until you remember — The Box! You then ask the audience member who is holding the box to please stand up and come to the stage. Once on stage one of the members is instructed to open the box (that you never touch). As they do they see a fabric cloth, which upon be unraveled reveals a solid light bulb. The spectator freely takes the bulb out of the box and can see their bill is inside (no funny moves and it handles very close inspection.) The only way to get to the bill you explain is to break it. You ask them to place the empty cloth over the palm of your outstretched hand. Once this is done they are to place the bulb onto the cloth and begin to wrap the cloth around it. Everything is fair and completely visible at all times.  At this point, you can either have them break the bulb against the wooden box or you can dramatically break it however you desire.  Gently pull the cloth open to reveal the bill amongst the pieces of glass. You ask your participant to carefully pull the bill from the glass and as they unroll it appears to have a corner missing. You ask them to line up the receipt corner they were given earlier. It is a perfect match – including the serial numbers!
